Shopify and AI visibility: what the Vurto app does for your store
Analyses launched from the Shopify admin, product pages rewritten for AI, articles published to the store blog: a full tour of Vurto's Shopify connector, and a method for using it.
When a shopper asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity "which cordless vacuum should I buy for a small flat", the answer names a few products and a few brands. Those picks are not random. The engine relies on the pages it has read: product pages, comparisons, reviews, discussion threads. For a Shopify store, the product page is often the only page that describes the product in detail. If it is three lines and a spec list, the AI has nothing to quote.
GEO (generative engine optimisation, the work that makes a brand visible and accurately described in AI chatbot answers) therefore often starts in the store's back office. That is why Vurto built a Shopify connector: to measure AI visibility and act on it without leaving the admin.
What the connector does, in four parts
1. Analyses, from the Shopify admin
The Vurto Shopify app links your store to a Vurto account at install. There is no key to copy and no separate account to create. Your credits are refilled every Shopify billing cycle.
From the admin, you choose your topics (what you want to measure), your prompts (the questions your customers ask AI assistants) and the engines to query. The credit cost is known before you launch. Every run is kept in a history: engines queried, personas, recommendations and generated content.
2. Product pages rewritten for AI
This is the most direct part. From a product, Vurto rewrites the page so an AI can understand and cite it: description, title, SEO meta, tags, product type and vendor. The new version is never published automatically. You review it, edit it if needed, then publish it to the Shopify product in one click.
A product page that AI can read answers the questions people ask about the product: who it is for, what it is used for, what its limits are. It gives verifiable facts rather than superlatives, and it uses the words your customers use in their questions.
3. Articles and pages published to the store
AI assistants do not only cite product pages. They rely heavily on buying guides, comparisons and FAQs. Vurto generates this content from your analyses. On Business and Agency plans, it can be published straight to your store: guides, FAQs and comparisons to the Shopify blog, landing pages to the store's pages, as a draft or live, as you choose.
4. A catalogue AI agents can read
You can import your whole Shopify catalogue into Vurto to track products by group and compare their visibility. On the theme side, Vurto provides a Liquid block you paste once into your theme: it points AI agents to a Markdown version of your product, collection, blog and content pages, which is easier for them to read than the full theme HTML.
A five-step method
- Pick the questions that matter. Start from the questions customers ask before buying: "best… for…", "… vs …", "cheap…". Those are your prompts.
- Measure. Run a first analysis across several engines. Check where you appear, at which position, and which sources are cited instead of you.
- Rewrite priority pages. Start with products where a competitor is cited and you are not. Review each rewritten page before publishing it.
- Fill the missing topics. If AI assistants mostly cite comparisons or guides, publish your own on the store blog.
- Measure again. Run the same analysis a few weeks later. In Vurto, compare two product groups (rewritten pages against a control group) or the same group at two dates.
What stays in your hands
The connector prepares and publishes, but it does not decide for you. Rewritten pages are reviewed before publishing. Articles can go out as drafts to be approved in Shopify. And a rewritten page does not guarantee a citation: engines also rely on outside sources (reviews, media, communities). Measuring before and after is how you find out what worked.
